NM400 equivalent astm material equivalent
:NM 400 steel is an abrasion-resistant steel. It is commonly used in a variety of construction and engineering applications, including excavators, dumpers and other tough operating environment. It is typically formed into plates, flat bars and pipes, and is well suited for applications requiring high strength and wear resistance.
NM 400 has a nominal hardness level of 400 HBW (Brinell Hardness Number). This is an important factor in its ability to withstand wear and tear because its surface can reach a hardened state of about 760HBW. This means that it is particularly efficient in resisting impingement, shear, cutting and gouging wear.
The primary advantage of HARDO'X 400 is its ability to retain its properties even in the most extreme conditions such as freezing temperatures, exposure to saltwater and chemical wear. Its extremely high wear-resistance also makes it a good choice for structures such as quarry buckets and mineral processing equipment, as well as for wear surfaces such as blades and liners.
NM 400 is most commonly compared in terms of performance to ASTM A128 – a manganese steel grade with a nominal hardness of around 200-300 HBW. While ASTM A128 is a relatively good wear-resistant material, NM 400 offers significant improvements in wear resistance and hardness.
At the same time, NM 400 offers excellent weldability and workability and is easily machined and formed. It can be welded with almost any method and with wear plates, welding wear parts and welding consumables. The latter can be used to reduce weld preparation time and overall costs.
NM 400 is a good choice for applications where wear resistance and strength are the prime requirements. It provides good overall wear-resistance and toughness, and offers excellent weldability and machinability. It is especially suitable for heavy-duty applications in extreme conditions and for highly abrasive wear surfaces such as blades and liners.
