What is en NM400 equivalent astm material

The material known as Hardo X400 is a manganese sulphur-rich steel developed by ArcelorMittal, which is one of the leading steel production companies in the world. The grade of this steel is 1.1106, which is a non-standard grade as compared to national or international standards. It is a good choice for resisting high abrasive wear, specifically in mining and construction applications.

The ASTM equivalent of Hardo X400 is ASTM A128 GRADE B. ASTM A128 GRADE B is a wear-resistant steel that is more commonly used in the mining industry for mining, quarrying, and construction applications. This steel is classified as an austenitic-type alloy, which means it is made of a combination of metallic elements, such as iron, chromium, manganese, and carbon. This combination of elements provides Hardo X400 with a high resistance to wear and abrasion, making it the perfect choice for mining and construction applications.

The physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of Hardo X400 and ASTM A128 GRADE B are quite similar. The density of Hardo X400 is 7.83 g/cm3, which is slightly higher than the 7.7 g/cm3 density of ASTM A128 GRADE B. Both steels have a maximum yield strength between 600-800 mega pascal (MPa), and an ultimate tensile strength of 1000 MPa.

    Hardo X400 and ASTM A128 GRADE B also have quite similar chemical composition. The alloy composition of Hardo X400 consists of 0.24 – 0.33% of carbon; 0.60 – 1.2% of manganese; 0.9 – 1.25% chromium; 0.17 – 0.40% silicon; and 0.40 – 0.70% sulphur. The alloy composition of ASTM A128 GRADE B includes 0.25 – 0.35% of carbon; 0.65 – 1.2% of manganese; 0.9 – 1.3% of chromium; 0.2 – 0.40% of silicon; and 0.40 – 0.70% of sulphur.

The similarities between Hardo X400 and ASTM A128 GRADE B make them the ideal material for use in applications where high abrasive wear is a major concern. They are both wear-resistant materials and provide a cost-effective solution for industries like mining and construction. With their similar physical, mechanical and chemical properties, the two materials can be used interchangeably for a wide range of applications.
