What is NM400 equivalent ASTM steel
The NM400 steel is a high-performance steel developed by Nippon Steel for meeting the needs of high-precision, high-strength products. The steel has a high-strength and high-purity structure with added New Pure High-Performance Alloying Elements, which improved the homogeneity and suppress the precipitation of alloy carbides, enabling a higher machining accuracy.
Compared to conventional high-performance steels, NM400 steel has the following advantages: improved hardness, greater wear resistance, better wear resistance, improved flattening and curling resistance, improved weldability and improved cold formability.

Advantages of NM 400 Equivalent
Brinar 400 and Astor Armor 400, the equivalents to NM400, offer excellent wear resistance and good weldability. Brinar 400 has better toughness and ductility at temperatures below 0°C and is weldable with any standard welding method.
Heating of relatively thick plates may be required in order to achieve optimal welding results. However, users should be aware of traces of silicon, as this may reduce weldability.

Brinar 400 and Astor Armor 400 have good weldability, thus making them suitable for high-stress applications such as boots, bulldozers, and excavators.
