NM400 plate equivalent

    
    NM 400 is a martensitic hardenable steel, manufactured by SSAB (Swedish steel manufacturer) suitable for applications requiring high strength and good wear resistance. NM 400 is a wear resistant steel with a nominal hardness of 400 HB (Hardness Brinell) and a hardness value reachable up to 500 HB. It is extra hard and tough steel material, possessing a good welding ability and is used in applications such as laboratory and workshop equipment, racks, hoppers, etc.
    
    NM 400 is an all-around wear-resistant steel that possess good weldability and strength characteristics. NM 400 is an equivalent substitute to the traditional plate steel grades such as A36, 1020, 4140 and 4340.     Traditional plate steels such as A36, 1020 and 4140 are limited in their resistance to wear and tear, and need to be surface hardened through heat treatment, to achieve good hardening characteristics. NM400 is 20 times more wear-resistant than traditional mild steel, and can be used in more critical applications, such as crushers, screens and blade guides. Moreover, NM400 can operate and last longer in cycle time because of its superior wear resistance.
