HARDO X400 equivalent steel grade

HARDOX 400 is a Swedish specialty steel that was developed in 1974. It is a wear-resistant alloy steel with a hardness of 400 HBW, making it one of the hardest steels available in the market. This high hardness rating is achieved through a combination of high chromium and molybdenum content, providing high resistance to wear and tear. The alloying process also makes HARDOX 400 particularly resistant to deformation and abrasion, making it a popular choice for engineering and industrial applications.

HARDOX 400 offers unbeatable resistance to wear and tear, making it ideal for a wide range of industries and applications. Due to its unique properties, it is used extensively in construction, mining, and oil and gas industries, among others. It has a high impact resistance and can withstand extreme levels of wear and tear, making it ideal for use in machines and tools exposed to harsh environments.

HARDOX 400 is available in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses to meet specific requirements. It is also easily weldable and can be used for both overlay and spot welding. Its excellent workability makes it an ideal choice for applications such as buckets, blades, dumpsters, etc.

Due to its unmatched properties and availability, HARDOX 400 is also available in some standardized formulations. These can be used as interchangeable replacements for other alloy steels that do not offer the same levels of wear resistance. An equivalent steel grade of HARDOX 400 is Abrasion Resistant Steel (XAR) 400, which is composed of a medium-carbon Manganese-Molybdenum-Nickel-Chromium blend.

XAR 400 offers impressive wear resistance and ductility, but it also has lower HRC ratings than HARDOX 400, making it less effective in more abrasive applications. It is also more difficult to weld than HARDOX 400. Some of the most common applications for XAR 400 include truck beds and dumpster liners, wheel loader cutting edges, and transport wheeled stairs.

HARDOX 400 is the ideal wear-resistant steel for engineers and industrial applications, particularly for applications where high wear resistance and durability are essential. Specialty steel manufacturers create HARDOX 400 with unique properties that enable it to withstand wear and tear, making it an ideal choice for heavy-duty applications. By providing similar properties to XAR 400, HARDOX 400 offers a viable alternative to conventional steel grades, without compromising on performance.
