Boiler steel plate NM500 steel material mainly refers to the hot-rolled medium and heavy plate materials used to manufacture superheater, main steam pipe and heating surface of boiler fire chamber. The main boiler steel materials are high-quality structural steel and low-alloy heat-resistant steel. Common boiler steel includes low-carbon killed steel NM500 steel material smelted in open furnace or low-carbon steel smelted in electric furnace, with carbon content WC in the range of 0.16% - 0.26%.

The boiler steel plate has small strain aging sensitivity, especially in the corresponding working temperature range, a certain value of aging impact energy must be guaranteed;The boiler steel plate has low notch sensitivity, which can prevent steel from cracking in welding, opening, and local stress concentration areas;The NM500 steel material, boiler steel plate has good welding performance;The NM500 steel material, boiler steel plate has a good microstructure, white spots and cracks are not allowed.

The preparation of NM500 steel material galvanized steel before welding is the same as that of ordinary low-carbon steel. It is necessary to carefully handle the groove size and nearby galvanized layer. In order to achieve penetration, the groove size shall be appropriate, generally 60 ~ 65 °, with a certain gap, generally 1.5 ~ 2.5mm; in order to reduce the penetration of zinc into the weld, the galvanized layer in the groove can be removed before welding. In the practical work, the centralized beveling, no blunt edge technology for NM500 steel material centralized control, two-layer welding process, reducing the possibility of incomplete penetration.

NM500 steel material, S235JR VS S275JR VS S355JR plates in yield strength: For plate thickness ≤16mm, the min. yield strength of S235JR plates is 235 Mpa, S275JR plates is 275 Mpa, S355JR plates is 355 Mpa. The yield strength of S235JR S275JR S355JR plates reduces with the increasing of plate thickness. S235JR VS S275JR VS S355JR plates in tensile strength: For plate thickness 3-100mm, the tensile strength of S235JR plates is 360-510 Mpa, S275JR plates is 410-560 Mpa, S355JR plates is 470-630 Mpa. For plate thickness 100-150mm, the tensile strength of S235JR plates is 350-500 Mpa, S275JR plates is 400-540 Mpa, S355JR plates is 450-600 Mpa.
