Processability of hardox 400 machining

SA516Gr45 (R-HIC) This type of steel plate is mainly used in the manufacture of equipment used in wet hydrogen sulfide environment, such as: liquefied petroleum gas desulfurization system, stable absorption system for catalytic cracking, condensation system of atmospheric and vacuum distillation tower, etc. The material HARDOX 400 machining has the characteristics of high purity, low P, low S, good uniformity of structure and mechanical properties, resistance to hydrogen cracking and sulfide stress corrosion.
No. 45 steel is commonly used medium carbon quenched and tempered structural steel. The cold plasticity of No. 45 steel is generally better than HARDOX 400 machining. Annealing and normalizing are better than quenching and tempering. No. 45 steel has higher strength and better machinability than Q345 steel. After proper heat treatment, it can obtain certain toughness, plasticity and wear resistance. No. 45 steel HARDOX 400 machining is suitable for hydrogen welding and argon arc welding, but not suitable for gas welding. Preheating is required before welding, and stress relief annealing shall be conducted after welding.
Chemical composition of Q420 steel: C ≤ 0.20, Si ≤ 0.50, Mn ≤ 1.70, P ≤ 0.035, S ≤ 0.035, Nb ≤ 0.07, V ≤ 0.20, Ti ≤ 0.20, Cr ≤ 0.30, Ni ≤ 0.80, Cu ≤ 0.30, N ≤ 0.015, Mo ≤ 0.20. The mechanical properties of Q420 steel are: yield strength ≥ 340 MPa, tensile strength 500-680 MPa, elongation after fracture ≥ 18%, impact energy 34J. HARDOX 400 machining, Q420 steel has good mechanical properties and weldability, good cold and hot workability. Q420 steel is mainly used for manufacturing mining machinery, heavy vehicles, ships, bridges, medium and high pressure boilers, vessels and other large welding and structural parts.
