Cold rolled steel sheet has high strength, high hardness, high surface finish and is generally thin plate, which can be used for stamping. The production process of HARDOX 400 welding, hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel plates is different. Hot rolled steel plate is rolled at high temperature, while cold rolled steel plate is rolled at normal temperature. Generally speaking, cold-rolled steel plate has better strength and hot-rolled steel plate has better ductility.
Penetration testing technology is only suitable for detecting surface defects. It uses penetrant to apply on the surface of the HARDOX 400 welding steel plate, then wipes the excess penetrant with the cleaning solution, and then smears the developer. The penetrant remaining in the defect is adsorbed by the developing material, so as to observe the shape of the defect and determine the type of defect. This HARDOX 400 welding method requires multiple wipes before and after the inspection, the process is more cumbersome, and can not detect internal defects and rough and dirty steel plates.
As per JIS G3101 standard, the Carbon (C), Silicon (Si) and Manganese (Mn) content of SS400 steel plate are not controlled. Phosphorus (P) content of HARDOX 400 welding, JIS SS400 steel plate is 0.050% Max and Sulphur (S) content is 0.050% Max. The SS400 steel melting point is 1430 Degree Celsius, Brinell Hardness is 160HB, density is 7.85g/cm3, Young’s Modulus is 190-210Gpa. The strength and elongation of JIS SS400 steel plate varies with thickness. Generally, the tensile strength of SS400 steel plate is 400-510 Mpa. Elongation is above 21%. Yield strength ≥245Mpa for thickness≤16mm. When the JIS SS400 steel plate is thciker than 100mm, the yield strength shall not less than 205Mpa.
