NM500 vs Hardox 500

    
    HARDOX 500 and NM500 are two of the most popular abrasion resistant steel plates used in various industries and applications. Both HARDOX 500 and NM500 are heat-treated and branded by their respective producers to provide superior strength and outstanding wear resistance properties.
    
    HARDOX 500 is produced by the Swedish company SSAB with more than 40 years of experience in wear resistant technologies. HARDOX 500 is a premium abrasion resistant steel that offers high performance, toughness, and good weldability. Hardox steel is most commonly used in applications that involve light to medium weight impact and abrasion such as the construction industry, forestry, and the mining industry.
    
    NM500 is a Chinese produced wear-resistant steel plate that is often used in applications that require higher wear and tear such as excavators, bulldozers, and heavy-duty construction machinery. NM500 is a structural steel plate with excellent toughness and has a high carbon content for superior strength.
    
    Both steel plates provide outstanding wear resistance and offer superior protection from impacts and heavy loads. The main difference between HARDOX 500 and NM500 is in the Chemical composition. HARDOX 500 has a nominal hardness of 500 HBW whilst NM500 has a bit higher hardness of 500 HBW plus 54 DPH (Diamond Pyramid Hardness). However, HARDOX 500 is more weldable than NM500 and the yield strength of HARDOX 500 is slightly higher, with a minimum yield strength of 890MPa compared to NM500 with a minimum yield strength of 830MPa.
