    Indian Standard (IS) 750 is a technical and system specification published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for Quality Assurance and Management in Manufacturing Industries. It was first published on 7 February 1988 with the aim of providing guidance to industry, researchers and regulators on how to put into practice the quality assurance systems at manufacturing sites in India. IS 750 specifies the requirements for total quality management (TQM) systems in order to ensure that products conform to specified requirements, and that customer satisfaction is achieved.
    
    IS 750 requires organizations to have policies and procedures that describe the quality management system. It further requires the establishment and documenting of procedures to be followed during production and activities, to document and analyze customer complaints and other problem areas, to have an audit programme to examine, measure and verify quality systems, and to set performance goals for continual improvement. The standard also includes a detailed guide on records and documents to be maintained, and the process for managing feedback from customers and other stakeholders.
    
    In terms of quality management systems, IS 750 is equivalent to the International Standard for Quality Management, ISO 9000. Organizations have to meet the requirements specified in IS 750 in order to be certified with the ISO 9000 standards. However, IS 750 differs slightly from its international equivalent in that it also considers India-specific contexts and production characteristics.
    
    IS 750 is regularly updated by the BIS. The latest version was published in April 2020.
