NM450 material equivalent
NM450 material is a special heat-treated high-hardness abrasion-resistant steel plate, produced by quenching and tempering process. Its chemical composition is as follows: C: 0.31~0.40, Si: 0.10~0.35, Mn: 1.60~2.00, P<0.015, S<0.018, Cr: 1.50~2.50, Ni: 0.7 and Mo: 0.2~0.5. NM450 material has good mechanical properties with yield strength 4 times greater than that of carbon steel, and its hardness and impact toughness can be improved further. Under impact load, NM450 material can absorb energy which is equivalent to 2-3 times that of carbon steel.
NM450 material can be used for different applications. ASTM A131 grade A is a normalized and tempered heat-treated steel plate with a minimum tensile strength equivalent to that of NM450 material. ASTM A514 grade F is a high-strength, quenched and tempered heat-treatable steel plate with a yield strength of at least 100,000 psi (690 MPa) and ultimate tensile strength of 110,000 psi (760 MPa). UNS K11820 is a wear-resistant steel alloy designed for improved wear-resistance for wear applications. It is composed of iron, chromium and boron and has a minimum hardness of 420 HBW.
