NM400 wear steel equivalent
.NM400 is an abrasion resistant steel plate that is made for wear applications. It is commonly used as wear plates in construction machinery, mining, agricultural and other areas because of its excellent properties. It has excellent wear properties, with a high resistance to impact, abrasion and erosion. NM400 is also characterized by its high bendability and weldability.
NM400 is a high-end wear-resistant steel plate manufactured by Changjiang Steel, a large steel manufacturing company in China. It is wear resistant, break resistant and excellent in extending life of wearing parts. It also has excellent properties in extreme cold and hot temperatures; it is highly resistant to corrosion and has excellent shock absorbent capabilities.
NM400 is often compared to other abrasion resistant steel plates such as HARDOX®400, GAUGEPLATE®, ABRAPLATE® and QUARD®400. It generally has similar properties as these other plates, although in certain areas it can exceed them. For instance, it has a greater impact resistance, is more wear-resistant in extreme temperatures, and is sturdier than many of its equivalents.
Developed in the early 2000s, NM400 is similar in composition to other steel plates, but is hardened by a double-tempering process that makes it more durable and able to withstand tougher conditions than other abrasion resistant steel plates. The double tempering also helps increase the plate’s wear resistance. This makes it a great option for an industrial setting or an environment where the steel plate is exposed to mechanical stress and wear on a regular basis.
The NM400 steel plate is available in a variety of thicknesses and sizes. It is lightweight and is easily cut or formed and maintained. Welds of up to 75mm are possible and welding the plate does not require preheating or post heat treatment. NM400 is suitable for applications such as power mills, paper and wood mills, conveyor rollers, steel mills and more.
