NM400 VS NM450
NM400 vs NM450 is a comparison between two different types of steel. These two steels are both considered to be high-strength, wear-resistant steels, but the difference lies in their chemical composition and mechanical properties.
NM400 is a wear-resistant steel with hardness of 400 HBW, mainly used in construction machinery, mining machinery, coal mining machinery, environmental protection machinery, metallurgical machinery and other wear-resistant structures.
The chemical composition of NM400 includes C:0.25-0.30, Si: 0.15-0.50, Mn: 1.10-1.70, P≤0.025, S≤0.015, Cr: 1.40-2.00, Ni: 1.0, Nb: 0.03, Mo: 0.15-0.30, Ti: 0.15-0.30, V: 0.05-0.10, N: 0.010-0.020 and Als: 0.020-0.050. NM400 has an ultimate tensile strength of 1250-1550 MPa, compressive strength of 1220 MPa, a Vickers hardness of 375-430, a surface hardness of 0-50 HRC, an elongation of 16-32%, and a yield strength of 950 MPa.
NM450 is a wear-resistant steel with a hardness of 450 HBW, which has a superior performance in wear and impact resistance compared to other wear-resistant steels. Commonly used in construction, mining and other industries.
The chemical composition of NM450 includes C:0.25-0.30, Si: 0.15-0.50, Mn: 1.20-1.70, P≤0.025, S≤0.015, Cr: 1.60-2.10, Ni: 1.0, Nb: 0.05-0.10, Mo: 0.15-0.30, Ti: 0.15-0.30, V: 0.05-0.10, N: 0.010-0.020 and Als: 0.020-0.050. NM450 has an ultimate tensile strength of 1470-1700 MPa, compressive strength of 1220 MPa, a Vickers hardness of 390-440, a surface hardness of 0-50 HRC, an elongation of 15-30%, and a yield strength of 1050 MPa.
The main difference between NM400 and NM450 materials is their mechanical properties. NM400 has an ultimate strength of 1250-1550MPa which is slightly lower than the ultimate strength of NM450. NM450 also has an improved yield strength, compressive strength and hardness compared to NM400. NM450 also has a higher impact resistance, due to its increased hardness, which makes it more suitable for applications which require good impact resistance.
In conclusion, both NM400 and NM450 materials are wear-resistant steels with excellent hardness and strength properties. However, NM450 has superior mechanical properties compared to NM400, with improved impact resistance and yield strength.
