HARDO X450 equivalent grades

Hardox 450 is a high-strength and abrasion-resistant alloy steel plate manufactured by SSAB (a Swedish steelmaking and engineering company). The Hardox 450 contains up to 0.7% manganese, 0.4% carbon, and 0.9% chromium, which makes it highly resistant to wear and tear and increases its tensile strength.

Utilized in a wide range of industries, Hardox 450 is renowned for its functional excellence and is an ideal choice for structural applications in construction, automotive, earthmoving, and agricultural industries. Its other applications include conveying, recycling, and taking lives for heavy-duty use.

The Hardox 450 comes in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, making it a versatile plate for use in a variety of high strength applications. It is also available in an extra-thick version called HARDOX 500, which is 50% thicker and provides even better wear and abrasion resistance.

Despite its popularity, Hardox 450 and 500 are not the only abrasion-resistant and high strength steel plates available in the market. There are a number of Hardox 450 and 500 equivalent grades, such as Dillidur 400 and Dillidur 500, which are also produced by SSAB.

Dillidur 400 and Dillidur 500 offer greater corrosion and abrasion resistance than Hardox 450 and 500, and they are also the preferred choice in highly concentrated acids or alkalis due to their especially good pitting corrosion resistance. In addition, Dillidur 400 and 500 plates are available from ArcelorMittal, Costinox, and Oreka Steels, making these alloys more accessible for certain manufacturing processes.

Additionally, two other abrasion-resistant steel plates, like Hardox 450 and 500, are available as alternatives – Sumihard 400 and 500 from JFE Steel, and Dillimax 500 from Dillinger. Sumihard 400 and 500 offer up to a 60% increase in wear resistance compared to conventional structural grades, and Dillimax 500 is renowned for its exceptional crack resistance. These grades are also available from other steel producers like Steel-ex, Baosteel, Posco, Nippon Steel, and Alfa Acciai.

For industries that require extra-high wear abrasion resistance, like construction and mining, the ultra-high wear resistant alloy steel called Wearplate 400 from Wearplate Group is the perfect solution. This grade has a hardness of 400BHN (Brinell Hardness Number) and provides excellent wear resistance, impact resistance, and wear abrasion comparable to Hardox 450 or 500.

In conclusion, if a wear-resistant steel plate is needed, then Hardox 450 and 500 should be at the top of the list for potential applications. However, depending on the project requirements, there are a number of Hardox 450 and 500 equivalents available in the market, from brands like Dillidur, Sumihard, Dillimax, and Wearplate. Each of these steel plates provides a slightly different set of functionalities, and it is important to pick the correct grade based on the specific project requirements.
